Product Overview

This Mazu wooden statue is carefully hand-crafted from natural thuja wood, measuring 10 × 5.5 × 5 cm. Thuja wood has a fine grain, pleasant natural aroma, and good durability.

The statue is made using a combination of hand-carving and machine carving — preserving the warmth of traditional craftsmanship while ensuring clean, detailed finishes.

Who is Mazu?

Mazu is a traditional cultural figure widely respected in coastal regions of Southeast China, especially Fujian and Chaoshan. She lived around 960 AD during the Song Dynasty and is remembered for helping shipwrecked sailors and protecting fishermen.

Today, Mazu is seen as a cultural symbol of safety, protection, and maternal care — representing the love and hope of families waiting for loved ones to return home.

In 2009, Mazu customs and beliefs were inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Showing Respect — A Cultural Tradition

In traditional Chinese culture, people often place fresh fruit or a cup of tea near a Mazu statue as a simple way to express good wishes for safety and family well-being. This is a gentle cultural habit, not a religious ritual. Today, many people display a Mazu statue in their home or office as a cultural decoration and a meaningful reminder of protection and peace.
